So, you want to start making your own natural, toxic-free, all-purpose cleaner? You already know all the reasons why it’s beneficial for your health, wallet, and just how effective it is… but how easy is it?

This is the perfect DIY recipe to start with now that you’re looking to chuck all those other toxic, health sabotaging cleaning products!

Let’s tick off a few requirements first, shall we? When it comes to an all-purpose cleaner, you want something that disinfects, cuts through grease, and leaves a streak-free surface when dry. Bonus points for a cleaner that has a really pleasant aroma, is inexpensive, and is loaded with health benefits!

Before we dive in, let’s touch on some toxic chemicals to watch out for:

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Phthalates, Parabens, and Fragrances, which is really just another word for a mix of who knows what! There could be thousands of chemicals under the word “fragrance” alone. You might recognize a few of these names, a lot of these are also common in shampoos and beauty products. A great resource to look at is the EWG database. You’d be surprised how much is hiding in your every day products.

Now, let’s look at some benefits Lemon and OnGuard essential oil:

Lemon

  • Has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and antiseptic properties

  • Cuts through grease and sticky adhesives

  • Cleanses surfaces and the air

  • Promotes healthy detoxification when inhaled, ingested, or used topically

On Guard (Blend of: Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary)

  • Strong anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, antiseptic and anti-infectious properties

  • Protects against environmental threats and stimulates healthy immune response

  • Wild orange cuts through grease, and is a powerful disinfectant

  • Clove oil helps dissolve mold and mildew

  • Cinnamon is an amazing purifier
